The Things You Tried To Tell Me

The Things You Tried To Tell Me is a conceptual project started in the summer of 2007 that may yet take several years to complete.

The process is to analyse digital photographs, converting pixel characteristics into sound characteristics, in an automated process. Photographs of working class and industrial areas around Newcastle, in the North East of England are being used to generate industrial, machine-like bursts of distortion. he photographs are pairs which themselves illustrate the decline of heavy industry and its social impact. When processed the resulting sounds are examined and processed further to create a unique sonic landscape.

The result will be a sound installation presented in surround sound accompanied by images.
